| Dr. Stacey F. Howell, age 65, died Friday February 9, 2007 at the Marengo Memorial Hospital, Marengo, following a sudden illness. Services: 7 P.M. Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Rev. Jeremy Brigham officiating. Friends may call after 2 P.M. Tuesday, until service time at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.
He is survived by his daughter, Monica Howell of St. Paul, MN; a sister, Dr. Ruth Howell-Rucci and husband Fred of Palm Beach, FL; a sister-in-law and companion, Elizabeth McKay of Williamsburg; and a sister in-law, Harriet McKay of St. Peters, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Leslie Rose McKay Howell on October 10, 1999.
Stacey Francis Howell was born March 26, 1941 in Staten Island, New York, the son of Stacey and Edith Boggs Howell. He graduated from Kirksville High School, Kirksville, MO in 1958. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Northeast Missouri State. He received his Masters degree in 1965. Stacey taught in the Amana schools for over ten years. He graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1976. Dr. Howell practiced medicine in the Amana Colonies, Dickinson, North Dakota, and North English, Iowa, retiring in June of 2005. Following his retirement he was Chief of Staff at the Keokuk County Hospital in Sigourney, and was medical director of the Parkview Nursing Home in Wellman.
Dr. Howell was a member of the Iowa Osteopathic Medical Association, the American Osteopathic Association, and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. He was past president of the Iowa Association of Family Physicians. He was a member of Alpha Kappa Lambda and the Alumni Associations of Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and Northeast Missouri State College. He had served on the Amana Board of Education and the Lake Iowa Conservation Park Board. Dr. Howell was instrumental in developing the Iowa County Ambulance Service. |
