| Gaylen F. Kensler, age 87, of Marengo, died Sunday, January 18, 2009 at the Vinton Lutheran Home following an extended illness. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, January 21, 2009, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo with Rev. Douglas Morton officiating. Burial will be in the Koszta Cemetery, rural Marengo. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo.
He is survived by his wife Carol; two sons Mark (Harriet) of Marengo, and Kirk (Treva) of San Diego, CA; two daughters, Susan Cronbaugh (Charles) of Marengo and Tami Munson (Richard) of Conroy; four grandchildren, Curtis Cronbaugh, Mark Allen Kensler, Stephanie Munson and Alex Munson; seven great-grandchildren, Annie Rabe, Chad Cronbaugh, Caleb Cronbaugh, Gage Kensler, Josh Kensler, Alexis Rohrer and Alyssa Rohrer; and two great-great grandchildren, Aiden and Alivia Rabe. Also surviving is a brother Randy Kensler of Marshalltown. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Rowena Kirchner.
Gaylen Floyd Kensler was born September 21, 1921 in Delta, Iowa the son of Lloyd and Rose Schmidthans Kensler. He attended the Marengo schools and married Carol Jean Torrance on July 11, 1943 in Hannibal, MO. Gaylen owned and operated the Amoco Service Station in Marengo from 1951 until he retired in 1983.
