Donald D. “Knuckles” Knock, age 74, of Marengo, died Sunday, March 1, 2009 at the Marengo Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Marengo with Rev. Katie Dawson officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by Marengo American Legion Post #76. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Memorials may be contributed to the First United Methodist Church, or the charity of the donor’s choice.

He is survived by his wife Mary; a son Craig and wife Pam of Toledo, IA, a daughter, Christy Zieser and husband Nick of Marengo, five grandchildren, McKenna and Mitchell Knock, and T.J. and Nate Zieser, and Paige Little; his siblings, Robert Knock and wife Marcia of Minnetonka, MN, Joanne Custer of Newton, Larry Knock and wife Karlene of Sperry, Gerald Knock and wife Brenda of Tiffin, and Karen Schmitz and husband Mike of Marengo; brother-in-laws Ervin Walters of Marengo, and Duane Tackaberry and wife Sherry of Panama City Beach, FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Marilyn Walters, a brother Jerry in infancy and a brother-in-law, Richard Custer.

Donald Dean Knock was born November 23, 1934 in Iowa County, Iowa, the son of Ervin H. and Rachel R. Parry Knock. He graduated from Marengo High School with the class of 1953. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and was stationed at Fort Riley, KS. Upon his return, Don was employed with Marengo Ready Mix for over 40 years. He was united in marriage to Mary Lee Tackaberry on June 30, 1962 in Fort Madison, Iowa and the couple resided in Marengo from that time.
