William P. Mangold, age 67, of Marengo, died Monday, October 31, 2005 at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, following an extended illness. Funeral Services: 3:00 P.M. Saturday, November 5, 2005, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo with Rev. Douglas Morton officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Friday, November 4, 2005 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; a son, Tim and wife Tracy of Marengo; two grandsons, T.J. and Tyler Mangold of Marengo; his mother, Velma Mangold of Cazenovia, N.Y.; and two sisters, Susan Olson Vernon of Dickens, IA. and Jean Kent and husband Bob of Cazenovia. He was preceded in death by his father in 1974 and a son Paul in 1968.

William Paul Mangold was born February 5, 1938 in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Wilbur and Velma Mueller Mangold. He received his education in the Alta, Iowa schools. William moved to Marengo in 1960. He married Evelyn Simpson on October 2, 1965 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marengo. William was employed as a mechanic for S and S Implement and Huedepohl Implement and for various Iowa City businesses. He drove ambulance and livery service for Carl Seckel, and operated a small engine repair service. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marengo. He enjoyed his family and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
