Wanda E. McCaw, age 88 of Marengo, died Sunday, July 20, 2008 at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo following a brief illness. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Rev. Bev Thompson-Travis officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at the funeral home. Memorials may be contributed to Pennies for the Park, Marengo, or Trinity United Church of Christ, Marengo.
She is survived by her son, Bob Sims of Davenport; her daughter, Sally Baumgartner (Daniel) of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Janet Holst (Scott) of Salem, IL, Doug Sims (Michelle) of Marengo, Kathryn Van Berkum (Jamie) of Marion and Sarah Mostrom (Stacy) of Liberty, MO; and eight great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are stepchildren, Jerry McCaw (Jan) of Williamsburg, Yvonne McCaw of Marengo, Pat Meier (Mike) of Cedar Rapids, and Steve McCaw (Amy) of Marengo, and many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Robert E. Sims in 1976 and Gordon McCaw in 1998, a brother Lawrence Cooperider, a sister, Dorothy Zuber, and a step daughter, Dorene Duffy.
Wanda Evelyn Cooperider was born September 3, 1919 in Marengo, the daughter of Bert and Pearl Davis Cooperider. She attended the Marengo schools and married Robert E. Sims on October 5, 1940. He died in 1976. She married Gordon McCaw in 1977. He died in 1998. Wanda was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, rural Marengo, the Marengo Legion Auxiliary and a board member of the Iowa County Historical Society for many years.
