Aileen V. Meade, age 75 of Parnell, died Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at her home following an extended illness. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 16, 2008, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Williamsburg, IA with Fr. Bob Harness and Fr. Joe Roost officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Holbrook, IA. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Friday, August 15, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Williamsburg where there will be a Scripture Service at 3:45 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be contributed to Camp Courageous, Monticello, IA.

Aileen is survived by her husband, Wayne Meade; her children Pat Meade and wife Mary Jane of Dyersville, Shelley Bishop and husband Phil of Center Point, Denny Meade of Parnell, Tim Meade and fiancée Kathy Wagamon of Parnell, John Meade and wife Carol of Newhall, Steve Meade and wife Carman of Olathe, KS, Matt Meade of Lee’s Summit, MO and Joe Meade and wife Carrie of Parnell; 21 grandchildren; and two brothers, Bill Burke and wife Ginger of Coggon and Glenn Burke and wife Kay of Ryan. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Walt and Don Burke, a sister Mary Hamling, and a daughter Susan in infancy.

Aileen Veronica Burke was born May 31, 1933 in Ryan, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph Henry Burke and Susan Veronica Coleman Burke. She received her education in the Troy Mills and Walker schools, graduating from Walker High School in 1951. Aileen married Mathias Wayne Meade on June 4, 1955 in Walker. She was a homemaker and loving mother. She was a previous member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Holbrook and the Altar and Rosary Society. Most recently, Aileen was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Parnell and St. Joseph’s Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting, playing Bingo and traveling. Aileen was an avid reader and a devout Iowa Hawkeyes fan. But most of all, she cherished her time with family and friends.
