Evelyn J. Misel, age 84 of Chelsea, formerly of Marengo, died Friday, January 20, 2012 at the Marengo Memorial Hospital. Visitation: 3 to 7 P.M. Monday, January 23, 2012 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. Private Family Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, Koszta Cemetery, rural Marengo. Memorials may be contributed to the Marengo Memorial Hospital.
Evelyn is survived by three daughters, Marilyn Hrabak (Ron Hrabak) of Chelsea, Connie Keating and husband D.J. of Fairfax, and Rita Hobbs and husband Tracy of Cape Fair, MO; three grandchildren, Kira Doyle, Kyle Hrabak and Marissa Hobbs; and four great-grandchildren, Brandon and Mahala Doyle, Taylor Hrabak and Emmarie Lyons. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, including a special nephew whom she loved and cared for like a son, Ronald Rumple of Wilmington, NC.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl in 2004, a brother Dean Rumple, and a grandson Thaddeus Logan Griess.
Evelyn Joye Rumple was born July 12, 1927 in Wayne County, Iowa, the daughter of Lawren and Clarice Stoner Rumple. She attended country schools and graduated from Ladora High School in 1945. Evelyn married Earl L. Misel on September 18, 1947 at the Ladora Methodist Parsonage. The couple farmed their entire married life in Iowa County. Evelyn was a member of the Ladora Methodist Church.
Evelyn enjoyed music and played guitar and accordion at the senior centers and nursing homes. She crocheted afghans and gave them to family members and charities. Most of all, Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her family and her beloved cat Lovey.
