Marguerite Myers, age 85 of Marengo, died Saturday morning, March 28, 2009, at Rose Haven Nursing Home following an extended illness. Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 31, 2009, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Rev. Eddie Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 6 P.M. Monday, March 30, 2009 at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.
She is survived by a son George of Marengo and a daughter Connie Healey and husband Melvin “Butch” also of Marengo; two grandsons, Robert Healey and wife Gail and Dennis Healey and wife Susie, all of Marengo, and 6 great-grandchildren, Drake, Dylan, Delaney, Stephanie, Katelin and Andrea Healey. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Robert Edwards and two sisters, Elois Scandridge and Rosemary Hess.
Marguerite Edwards was born September 21, 1923 in Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Hazel Coulson Edwards. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1941 and married George W. Myers on July 4, 1942. Marguerite was a rural school teacher for a few years. She then worked at Square D in Cedar Rapids. She also worked at the Sale Barn Restaurant and cooked for the Masons and Kiwanis groups.
Marguerite was a 50 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of Eastern Star and was a past Worthy Matron. She enjoyed gardening, canning and sewing.
