Joyce Lavonne Hiner Peska, age 55, formerly of Brooklyn, died Monday, July 27, 2009 at her home in Flower Mound, TX. Mass of Christian Burial: 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 1, 2009, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Brooklyn with Fr. Brian Shepley officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn. Visitation: 5 to 7:30 P.M. Friday, August 31, 2009 at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn where there will be a Scripture Service at 7:30 P.M.
She is survived by her husband, Larry A. Peska of Flower Mound, TX; two children, Jennifer L. Peska of Flower Mound and Justin L. Peska of Lewisville, TX; her parents, Harold and Pauline Hiner and a brother George and wife Lori Hiner, all of Brooklyn.
Joyce Lavonne Hiner was born July 24, 1954 in Grinnell, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Pauline Yossi Hiner. She attended the Brooklyn schools and graduated from BGM High School in 1972. Joyce attended Marshalltown Community College for a year. She married Larry A. Peska on July 10, 1976 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Brooklyn. Besides being a wife, mother and homemaker, Joyce was employed as an accountant at GTE in Grinnell for 13 years. She was a member St. Phillip the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewisville, TX, and a past member of the Women’s Business Association. Joyce enjoyed cooking, landscaping and gardening, especially herb gardening. |
