| Dorothy K. Puegner, age 79, died Thursday evening, April 20, 2006 at Colonial Manor of Amana, of complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Funeral services: 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 24, 2006 at the Middle Amana Community Church, Middle Amana with Elder Betsy Momany officiating. Burial will be in the High Amana Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday, April 23, 2006 at the Middle Amana Community Church. Memorials may be contributed to the Amana Church Society. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by a son, Craig William Puegner and wife Barbara of Eden Prairie, MN; a daughter, Charlotte Heishman and husband Gary of Amana; four grandchildren, Heather Davis, Joshua Heishman, Jocelyn Puegner and Ashley Puegner; a great-grandchild, Jordan Puegner; and a sister, Emma M. Tapia and husband Nando of Scottsdale, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Otto Puegner on September 20, 2003.
Dorothy Kathryn Hertel was born September 18, 1926 in Amana, the daughter of Theodore “Teddy” Hertel and Mathilda Haas Hertel. She graduated from Amana High School in 1945 and the University of Iowa, Iowa City in 1949. Dorothy married Otto Puegner on July 11, 1949 at the Presbyterian Church in Iowa City. She was an executive secretary in the International Department of Amana Refrigeration for many years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of the Amana Church Society. Dorothy enjoyed needlework and cross stitch. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. |
