Vernon Dale Reihmann, age 79 of Amana, died Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Lakeview Village in Amana. Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 23, 2011, Middle Amana Community Church with Elder Peter Hoehnle officiating. Burial will be in the Middle Amana Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at the Middle Amana Community Church, Middle Amana. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.

Vernon is survived by his wife, Joyce; a son Timothy and wife Anita of Marengo and a daughter Debra Balhorn and husband John of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Tyler Reihmann and wife Sarah of Clive, Katie Reihmann of Fort Scott, KS and Chase Reihmann and wife Anna of Cape Coral, FL. Also surviving is his brother Jimmy Reihmann and wife Judy of High Amana.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Vernon Dale Reihmann was born March 12, 1932 in Middle Amana, Iowa, the son of Herman and Anna Seifert Reihmann.  He graduated from Amana High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Japan and Korea.  Vernon was united in marriage to Joyce Annalea Klaner on April 16, 1955 at the Middle Amana Church in Middle Amana. He was employed by the Amana Farms and also worked for Amana Refrigeration for over 30 years.

Vernon was a lifelong resident of Middle Amana, a member of the Amana Church Society, and the American Legion Post 298 in Marion.  He enjoyed woodworking and making handcrafted wooden games. He liked fishing and turtle hunting, picking up walnuts and hickory nuts and finding those elusive mushrooms. Vernon spent many hours canning, gardening and cooking. He especially cherished the time he spent with his three grandchildren.
