Maryann Roth, age 82, of Brooklyn, died Monday, January 10, 2011 at the Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 15, 2011, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Brooklyn with Fr. Philip Ryan officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn. Visitation: 4 to 8 P.M. Friday, January 14, 2011 at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. A memorial fund has been established.
Maryann is survived by a son, Lynn Roth of Brooklyn, two daughters, Laurie Henning (Jeff) of Marengo, and Lisa Alexander of Brooklyn; eleven grandchildren, Tony Roth (Staci), Tracy Roth, Destiny Van Hauen (John), Nicole Roth, Antoinetta Purk (Bob), Calvin Korns, Dustin Henning, Nate Alexander, Tara Alexander, Colton Alexander, and Cheyanne Alexander; twelve great-grandchildren, Ryan, Scott, Nikki, Zackary, Ashley, Annastacia, Savanna, Ella, Dalton, Lucas, Brydon and Dominic; and two great-great grandchildren, Mason and Haydlee. Also surviving are a brother Donald Williamson (Elaine) of Atkins and two sisters, Irene Criswell of Newton and Linda Davis of Ladora.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leonard Roth, two sons, LaVerne Roth, and Loren Roth who was stillborn; a brother Everett Williamson, and a granddaughter, Jenny Korns.
Lola Maryann Williamson was born April 1, 1928 in rural Belle Plaine, Iowa, the daughter of Ronald Neal Williamson and Mable Marie Roudabush Williamson. She attending Hartwick High School and married Leonard Francis Roth on July 25, 1947 at St. Patrick’s Parsonage in Brooklyn. Over the years Maryann worked at Delongs in Grinnell, Amana Refrigeration for eight years, and the Char Du mat factory and Headly Fleshings as a seamstress. She was a member of the Brooklyn Fire Department Auxiliary, and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Brooklyn. Maryann enjoyed bowling and participated in the Couples Bowling League and other bowling leagues. Maryann loved bingo, sewing clothing, going dancing, fishing and camping, and coffee time. She especially enjoyed being in the garden and spending time outdoors.
