Marcella Ann Saylor, age 75 of Brooklyn, died Monday, October 27, 2008 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following an brief illness. Graveside Services: 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Brooklyn Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Dave DeVilder officiating. A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Kloster-Nevenhoven Funeral Home, Brooklyn. A memorial fund has been established.

She is survived by her husband Maynard; a daughter, Patti Nelson (Roger) of Montezuma, 3 grandchildren, Tammy Nelson of Montezuma, Eric Nelson (Jackey) of Brooklyn, and Sheri Sharer (Bart) of Montezuma; 4 great-grandchildren, Paije, Kane, Jadyn and Clark. Also surviving are a sister Marie Albert of Ladora, IA and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Mick Christian.

Marcella Ann Christian was born September 27, 1933 in Poweshiek County, Iowa, the daughter of Louis J. and Selma Van Doorneveldt Christian. She graduated from Hartwick High School and married Maynard Saylor on February 10, 1951 in Brooklyn, Iowa. Marcella was a secretary for the Brooklyn Telephone Company and also was editor of the Free Press newspaper for many years. She enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, playing cards, board games and spending time with her family.
