| Christa Annamarie Schmidt, age 84, died Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at Colonial Manor of Amana following a brief illness. Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 1, 2006, Middle Amana Community Church with Elder Tony Berger officiating. Burial will be in the Middle Amana Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Thursday, November 30, 2006 at the Middle Amana Community Church. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by a son, Rainer and wife Georgia of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Shirley Schmidt of Middle Amana; three grandchildren, Aaron (Karla) Schmidt of Waucoma, Christopher Schmidt of Cedar Rapids, and Sarah Schmidt also of Cedar Rapids; three great-grandchildren, Karissa and Kourtney Schmidt and Leah Schmidt. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Kurt Axel Schmidt in 1997.
Christa Annamarie Erich was born September 14, 1922 in Hamburg, Germany, the daughter of Max and Emma Meier Erich. She married Kurt Schmidt on March 1, 1947 in Hamburg, Germany. The couple moved to the United States in 1950, settling in Amana. Christa was employed as a waitress at the Ox Yoke for over 30 years. She enjoyed knitting mittens and dancing, was an excellent cook, and especially enjoyed her coffee breaks. Christa was a member of the Amana Church Society. She was a loving and caring person, full of laughter and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. |
