Shirley Ann Schmidt, age 57 of Iowa City, formerly of Middle Amana, died Tuesday evening, September 29, 2009 at her home following a brief illness.  Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Friday, October 2, 2009, Middle Amana Community Church, Middle Amana with Elder Emilie Hoppe officiating. Burial will be in the Middle Amana Cemetery.  Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Thursday, October 1, 2009 at the Middle Amana Community Church.  A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home in Marengo is in charge of arrangements.

Shirley is survived by her brother Ranier Schmidt and wife Georgia of Cedar Rapids, a niece and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Shirley Ann Schmidt was born June 8, 1952 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the daughter of Kurt and Christa Erich Schmidt.  She attended the Amana and Marengo schools and went on to graduate from the Williamsburg Schools.  Shirley participated in the Reach for Your Potential program in Iowa City. She was a member of the Amana Community Church.
