Celebration of Life Service for Kathryn A. Scott, 89, of Marengo, will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at First Presbyterian Church, Marengo. She died Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the Marengo Memorial Hospital following a short illness. The Rev. Gerald Rife will officiate at the service. Music will be provided by Dr. Sarah Stewart singing “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace.” She will be accompanied by organist Karen Moline. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Pallbearers are Morris Denson, Lowell Martin, Duane Bolger, Lance Olson, Dale Kinzenbaw, and Dean Kinzenbaw, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Noyes, Sr., John Bruce Dillin, Gary Spence and Garth Bigbee. Visitation will be held at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo from 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday, March 31, 2009. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Marengo.

Kathryn A. Scott was born March 9, 1920 at home in rural Marengo, the daughter of George and Kathryn Thompson Hansen. She attended Union Star country school and graduated from Marengo High School in 1938. She attended Iowa State College, Ames, for two years and worked in the business office of the college during World War II. Her marriage to Charles Glenn Scott took place April 3, 1946, at the First Presbyterian Church, Marengo, following his discharge from the U.S. Army. She was an active homemaker and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 63 years, Chapter AC of TTT, Junior Federated Club, several bridge clubs, the Happy Homemakers, the Presbyterian Women and the Presbyterian Church since 1934.

She is survived by her daughter, the Rev. Diane Miller and her husband, Jerry of Versailles, Missouri; two sons and their wives, Charles Scott and Ann Bigbee, and George Scott and Kim Misel-Scott, all of Marengo; six grandchildren, Melissa Biundo and husband David of Weston, Wisconsin, Brian Miller and wife Kristen of Marengo, Catie and Jessie Scott, Jamie and Alex Scott all of Marengo and three great-granddaughters Taylor and Mackenzie Biundo of Weston, and Emilee Miller of Marengo. Also surviving are her sister-in-law, Verna Riis of Cedar Rapids and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn in 1988, her father in 1949, her mother in 1950, two brothers, Clarence Hansen in 1987, and Herbert Hansen in 1996 and her sister-in-law, Bobby Hansen in 2006.
