Henry G. Seifert, age 80 of Homestead, Iowa died Monday, September 28, 2009 at Colonial Manor of Amana, Amana, Iowa of myelodysplastic syndrome (bone marrow disorder). Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Thursday, October 1, 2009 First United Methodist Church, Marengo, Iowa with Rev. Katie Z. Dawson officiating. Burial will be in the Homestead Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 P.M. Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at the Homestead Welfare Club in Homestead. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife Margy; their two sons Randy Seifert of Homestead and Tim Seifert of Chicago, Illinois; their daughter Karen Seifert (Melodie Barkley) of Urbandale; his granddaughter Angelique Hummel (Scott) of Cedar Rapids; and his great-grandchildren Mya and Noah Hummel of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry P. Seifert and Clara Tautenhahn Seifert, his sister Bertha Young and brother-in-law Clarence Young.
Henry G. Seifert was born October 3, 1928 in Homestead, Iowa the son of Henry P. Seifert and Clara Tautenhahn Seifert. He graduated from the Amana High School in 1947 and married Margy Gerard on June 27, 1948 in Marengo, Iowa. He was manager of the Homestead Meat Market and worked there for 50 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Marengo for 59 years, a member of both the Masonic Lodge and El Kahir Shrine for over 50 years, and a member and officer of the Amana Community Chest for over 30 years. Henry was a Chicago Cubs fan and he enjoyed gardening, playing horse shoes, grilling out, and spending time with his family and friends. |
