William A. Shoup, age 76, of South Amana, Iowadied Thursday, December 25, 2008 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following an extended illness. Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 29, 2008, Middle Amana Community Church, Middle Amana, Iowa with Elder Kristie Yoder officiating. Burial will be in the South Amana Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 5 P.M. Sunday, December 28, 2008 at the Middle Amana Church. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his daughter, Denise Otte and husband Robert of Marengo and his son Daniel Shoup of South Amana; four grandchildren, Lauren, Taylor, and Brandon Shoup, all of South Amana and Madison Otte of Marengo and a brother, Don Shoup of Middle Amana. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a granddaughter Lindsey Shoup.

William A. Shoup was born May 3, 1932 in South Amana, the son of Albert and Henrietta Zuber Shoup. He graduated from Amana High School in 1951 and served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. Bill was employed by the Amana Society Farms for 42 years. He was a member of the Amana Church Society and the Marengo American Legion Post #76. He enjoyed yard work and spending time with his family and friends.
