Alice W. Simmons, on Tuesday, April 19, 2005 entered heaven to enjoy eternal life won for her through the death and resurrection of her savior, Jesus Christ. She died at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids.

Funeral services for Alice Simmons, 89, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Marengo, are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo with Rev. Doug Morton officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2005 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be sent to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo or Lutheran Bible Translators. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is in charge of arrangements.

Alice was born July 12, 1915 the daughter of Joseph and Della Friese Dickenson in their rural Marengo home. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Martins Lutheran Church, rural Marengo. Alice married E. Owen Simmons November 28, 1935 at St. Martins Lutheran Church. She was a faithful and much loved Christian wife and mother.

She is survived by four children; Joseph (Mary) of Tucson, AZ, Joyce (William) Riley of Cedar Rapids, Elaine Simmons of Belle Plaine, and Dennis (Ruth) of Phoenix, AZ; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Alice is also survived by a brother Arnold Dickenson of Rialto, CA and a sister Myrna Herzog of Holliston, MA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Owen on September 21, 1998, and a sister Ferne Altenburg.
