| Kevin Dale Smith, age 40 of Marengo, died Saturday, August 13, 2005 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, IA of complications from an auto accident. Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at First United Methodist Church, Marengo with Chaplain David Bracht-Wagner officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. with full military honors conducted by the Iowa Army National Guard. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. He is survived by his father, Kenneth C. Smith of Marengo; his mother and step-father, Carol and Richard Frazier of Marshfield, MO; two children, Crystal Lynn Smith and Samuel D. Adams; and brothers and sisters, Debbie Watkins (Clyde), Eddie Morris, and Barry Morris all of Cedar Rapids, Donna Mahoney (Daniel) of Elkland, MO, Kim Morris of Marengo, LuAnn Oatly of Bonner Springs, KS, David Smith of New Sharon, Kenneth Smith of Miami, FL, Roger Smith (Linda) of Mount Vernon and Mark Smith of Watkins, CO.
Kevin Dale Smith was born June 5, 1965 in Cedar Rapids, IA. He received his education in the Cedar Rapids schools and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1983. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1986 and served until March of 1990. He was a line worker at Lear Corp. for 15 years. He was an active member of the Iowa National Guard, serving with Bravo Company 334 th FSB. Kevin was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. |
