Douglas
Todd Steinkuehler, age 46, died unexpectedly Thursday,
August 20, 2009 at his home in rural Marengo, Iowa. Funeral
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August
26, 2009, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Rev. Bev
Thompson-Travis officiating. Burial will be in Genoa Bluff
Cemetery, rural Ladora, IA. Visitation: 4 to 7 P.M. Monday,
August 24, 2009 St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dow City,
Iowa with a Wake Service at 7 P.M. Visitation will also
be held from 4 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday, August 25, at Kloster
Funeral Home, Marengo, IA. Memorials may be contributed
to the Douglas T. Steinkuehler Memorial Fund, c/o Keystone
Savings Bank, P. O. Box 243, Marengo, Iowa 52301.
He is survived by his wife Sherry; a son Brandon Douglas
Steinkuehler of Peterson and fiancee Laurie Walburg; a
stepson Scott Schade of Ladora; a stepdaughter Stephenie
Peska of Ladora; his father, Orville Steinkuehler (Gwen)
of Dow City; four sisters, Joan Favro of Chehalis, WA,
Linda Wood (Duff), Pat Ettleman and Sherri Hast (Lynn)
all of Dow City; and four brothers, Steve (Leslie) of
Prophetsville, IL, Joe (Karen)of Denison, Jim (Starla)
of Dow City and Marty Dwine also of Dow City. He was preceded
in death by his mother Katherine Dwine Steinkuehler.
Douglas Todd Steinkuehler was born May 16, 1963 in Denison,
Iowa the son of Orville and Katherine Dwine Steinkuehler.
He received his education in the Dow City/Arion schools
and graduated from Dow City/Arion High School in 1981.
He attended Iowa State University in Ames. Douglas married
Sherry Myers on June 10, 2006 in Dow City, Iowa. He was
employed with Williamsburg Manufacturing, Williamsburg,
IA as a controls engineer. Prior to working in Williamsburg,
Douglas was employed with Farmland in the Maintenance
Department in Denison, and Maytag in Galesburg, IL as
an electrician. He was interested in robotic automation,
computer science, trouble-shooting, experimenting, and
home projects. He also enjoyed golf and bowling. His advice
to others especially his son Brandon, was invaluable as
a guide to daily living. He enjoyed relaxing with his
friends, especially Cody Hawkins, telling his famous stories
and watching Nascar. He was an avid Jimmie Johnson fan.
He liked to make bets with his friends that Iowa State
would beat the Hawkeyes. Doug was a loving son, husband,
father, brother and friend and will be missed by all who
knew him. |
