Helen Louise Thormann, age 82, died Wednesday morning, January 12, 2005 at her daughter’s home following a courageous battle with cancer. Private family services will be held at a later date. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is in charge of arrangements.

Helen is survived by one daughter, Jamie Frimml of Marengo; two granddaughters, Erin Frimml of Iowa City, and Ellary Frimml of Marengo; one sister, Iris Cooney of Marengo; one brother, Edward Gleason of Marengo; and eight nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Joyce Unglenk, and two brothers, Orrin and Kenneth Gleason.

Helen Louise Gleason was born June 1, 1922 in Marengo, Iowa, the daughter of John Henry and Anna Louise Eichhorn Gleason. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1940. She married Richard Walsh in 1942 until 1955. During that time she traveled and worked at many places throughout the U.S. She began work at Collins Radio in 1956 as a provisioning analyst in the avionics division for 26 years. Helen was married to Arthur Thormann between 1960 and 1965. The couple had one daughter. Upon retirement Helen enjoyed babysitting, gardening, playing cards, was an avid animal lover, and her favorite pastime of working the Sunday crossword puzzles.
