Melvin F. Trumpold, age 80 of Middle Amana, died Monday evening, March 23, 2009 at his home following a brief illness. Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Thursday, March 26, 2009, Middle Amana Community Church with Elder Jon Childers officiating. Burial will be in the Middle Amana Cemetery with military honors conducted by American Legion Post #76. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at the Middle Amana Community Church. Memorials may be contributed to the Amana Church Society, or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife Marlene; two children, Lynn Trumpold and wife Margaret of Middle and Elizabeth Momany and husband Timothy of Amana; 6 grandchildren, Erica Zimmerman (Mark) of Middle Amana, William Trumpold of Middle Amana, Alexander and Allison Momany of Amana, and Jeffrey Trumpold and Emilie Trumpold of Middle; and a sister, Lucille Buser of Williamsburg. Also surviving are many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister in infancy.

Melvin Frank Trumpold was born April 17, 1928 in Middle Amana, Iowa, the son of Frank and Frieda Dickel Trumpold. He received his education in the Amana Schools and graduated from Amana High School in 1947. Melvin served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Marlene Louise Hahn on June 27, 1953 at the Middle Amana Community Church. He was employed by the Amana Society for 45 years. Melvin was a lifelong member of the Amana Church, and a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. Melvin loved all people and cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
