Darlene L. Walter, age 76 of Williamsburg, died Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following an extended illness. Funeral services: 10:30 A.M. Friday, March 20, 2009 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Williamsburg, with Rev. Richard A. Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Williamsburg. Friends may call from 3 to 7 P.M. Thursday, March 19, 2009 at the church. Memorials may be contributed to Lutheran Interparish School or the charity of the donor’s choice. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her husband Robert; a daughter Cindy M. Faas of Amana; a son Terry and wife Sara of Palo; 4 grandchildren, Afton Ridenour and husband Nathan of North English, Whit Faas of North English, Jordan Walter of Cedar Rapids, and Pvt. Codi Walter of Ft. Hauchuca, AZ; and twin great-grandchildren, Connor and Bridgette Ridenour. Also surviving are a brother Dean Wiebold and wife Janice of Williamsburg, and 2 sisters, Lillian Sandersfeld of Williamsburg, and Carolyn Kuesel and husband Roger of Victor. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Darlene Lucille Wiebold was born November 3, 1932 in York Township, Iowa County, Iowa, the daughter of Millen and Martha Wardenburg Wiebold. She received her education in the Iowa County schools. Darlene married Robert Walter on June 10, 1954 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. The couple farmed until 1992 when they moved to Williamsburg. Darlene drove school bus for many years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. She also belonged to the Williamsburg Saddle Club, and she loved to play her organ and to play cards.
